Where Self Defense Shouldn't be taught Part Time...............But Full Time.
Established 1990, we are the Oldest Traditional Martial Arts School in Cottonwood, AZ. Located in the Verde Valley of Northern Arizona, we have students from Clarkdale, Jerome, Cornville, Camp Verde, Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott, Hawaii, Texas and Spain.
Thats 22 years of Instructing Traditional Self Defense by a BlackBelt Instructor, not an Assistant youth instructor.
Sensei Paul has been Instructing Karate at Yavapai College for 16 years, and been training in Martials arts for over 35 years thats experience.
The modest membership dues to our dojo are the most affordable that you will find in the area. Check out our Class schedule, you will not get 5 days of self defense training any where else. No "Special"Club to join at an extra expense
Family Rates are More than competetive.
Every Monday is Judo Night, taught by Dr. Aktar 5th Dan in Judo 5th in Aikido ( both through Japans Kudonkan) taught in traditional Form.
Tuesday nights are Yavapai College Karate. Cancelled due to Budget Cuts.
It took us years of study to get where we are, and we do not make a living at it we try to pass on our knowledge between four instructors you have 110 years of experience.
All classes require a waiver and medical profile to participate in our classes: Safety of our students come first. We study traditional Karate ( Self Defense), Judo and Jujitsu, nothing fancy - just down and dirty traditional self-defense instruction.
We're proud to have fewer injuries than anyone in our area (Not Counting Sensei, Thank you!).
We participate in 1 Open Traditional Karate Tournament: Las Vegas Internationals ---- 3500 contestants for the last 21 years since it started.
And have held several World (21) and International Titles (19).
You must register with this site to watch the live online feed of the class.
Only people who do study with a class or at my permission may view classes over the internet, so viewing privileges must be requested.
We 're not a "Fitness Gym". Testing for Rank isn't Based on when Rent is due.
Students learn to:
Respect Parent and elders
Disapline
Gain Confidence in working with others
Honesty (True Honesty)
What Some people have to say:
Why go to Flashy Tournament Schools to learn Self Defense ? When all they do are Tournaments?
Dawn said " What you taught me works! A man grabbed me from behind, I remembered what you showed me. He was out like a light."
Tom Said" Went and watched the "Other" Martial Arts Class, Glad I did. They were on me like Roaches trying to get me to join...80.00 For babysitting my Child " to be a stunt person, no way. Thanks Again."
D. A. "Went to the one in CV tried using what they taught me, Failed. Then I remembered what you taught me those really worked!
I plan on rejoining your class."
Craig: Went to both TDK schools in town, either one were able to answer my questions they kept asking if I wanted to join and shoving contracts in my face. Found Smith Academy walked in was greeted by smiles, and yes watch our class, no pressure to join.
Master Jim from Shotokan, Okinawa: Sensei is the only instructor actually teaching on the floor, not a student.
Enjoyed the atmosphere.
